CHAIRS: The Christian Authors, Illustrators, and Readers Society

WHO: Our group is comprised of beginning, experienced, and published writers and illustrators. Our members also include readers, or anyone who loves the world of books and magazines even if you do not yet write or illustrate. All levels are invited to attend. Writers and illustrators for both the Christian market and general market are welcome.

WHAT: Writers bring a pencil/pen and 3 copies of one manuscript that is 1-10 pages in length, typed, and double-spaced. Illustrators bring a pencil/pen and 3 copies of one project that is 1-10 pages in length. Readers bring a pencil/pen to provide feedback to the work other members will be bringing. Because we meet in a public venue, please bring selections of your manuscript or illustrations that are rated G or PG and acceptable for general audiences. If your project tends to be controversial or contains material some may not feel comfortable with, but you need professional feedback, please make arrangements with other members to form critique groups on the side that will meet at a different time. WHEN: We meet the 3rd Thursday of each month from 9:30-12:30 or so. All are invited to join us for lunch in the mall food court afterward.

WHERE: We meet inside the Barnes & Nobel Booksellers, 5183 Montclair Plaza Lane, Montclair, California. (The store is next to J.C. Penney’s.)

WHY: Our purpose is to encourage and equip writers and illustrators to best meet personal goals as we improve our skills. We also want to provide a safe place to grow and network for those who do not yet write or illustrate, but are praying about following their dreams.
